Yokohama Launches Advan Neova AD08

AD08 Neova Lauch

Yokohama Tire Sales Philippines, Inc. (YTSP) recently launched the newest iteration of the Neova model, the AD08, from Yokohama’s flagship ADVAN line. The successor to the popular street/sport tire, the AD07, the AD08 was introduced by YTSP at the Clark International Speedway via a driving clinic conducted by Carlos Anton, three-time Philippine National Hillclimb Championship winner. Using a simple autocross course plotted on the main straight of the track, Anton and the other drivers from Team Yokohama-Mark Young Racing (on Subaru Imprezas generously provided by Motor Image Pilipinas) showed guests the difference between the Neova AD08 and a regular sporty tire.

The AD08’s newly developed MS2 compound, unibloc shoulder and sidewall steel inserts combined to take the vehicles through the slalom and hairpin curves confidently and consistently. Drivers and participants alike noted that the new Neova displayed high levels of grip, even at the limits of cornering. The same attributes also permitted the tires to halt the vehicles at much shorter distances than the regular tires. Anton added that “The AD08 feels more footed than the AD07. Braking and cornering on the AD08 is fantastic.”

When the rain came down in the afternoon, the AD08 showed that it’s not only a dry weather sport tire. The updated tread design and compound permitted the Subarus to continue ripping around the course without much reduction in lap times.

Everyone was mildly surprised to see that the tires held up pretty well to the abuse, even after being run around the course for the better part of the day. In fact, Yokohama says that the improvements to the AD08 enable it to wear longer than the outgoing AD07 model.

All in all, the product launch of the new Neova AD08 made a statement: what may possibly be the fastest street tire in the market today has arrived in the Philippines.
