  • Know when to change your tire.

This week's tire safety tip: Know when to change your tire.

When using worn out tires, the stopping distance becomes longer. In a study by Japan Automobile Tire Manufacturers Association, when driving at 80 km/h, the difference between a new tire and a worn out tire is at 10 meters! (illustration below)

Changing tires can mean a whole lot of difference on your road trip safety. On wet surfaces, worn out tires will make your tires skid (hydroplane). Look out for the tread wear indicators as shown in the picture. When your tire gets to this level, its time to change.
